Studio Beige home

Cacti is an interactive whiteboard app specially developed for Nederlands Dans Theater that teaches children about modern dance in a fun and engaging way. Based on the dance piece ‘Cacti’ by choreographer Alexander Ekman, this app is designed for primary school teachers and students in groups 1 and 2.

Children are encouraged to move along with catchy dance videos, watch video fragments from ‘Cacti’, and discuss what they see. They also get to use their creativity and imagination to invent their own dance moves by playing with animations and completing fantasy-prompting tasks.

To guide children through the app, the Cacti character, created by Studio Beige, comes to life and interacts with them. Cacti moves, talks, and challenges the children to join in. Studio Beige has developed a lively and narrative visual language complete with illustrative – and sometimes more abstract – landscapes that the Cacti character inhabits.
